I gave my friend a small present. (NOT I presented my friend with a small present.)
We use the verb “present” to mean give an award formally or in a ceremony

Mortuary (tablet / nameplate); the nearest object in Christian religions would be “a gravestone”
Location

There is a side table next to my bed.
There are dishes in the side table in the dining room.
I put a cushion on my chair.
There is a cushion behind me on the sofa.
The soda stream is on the counter behind me.

Use real objects to practice; ask yourself “where is (object)?"
