Appropriacy

  • Old age home: Often a general term, used in some regions to refer to a place where elderly people live and receive basic care. It’s not as common in everyday English as the other terms.

  • Retirement home: A residence for people who are typically able to live independently but want to live in a community with other retirees. They may have some services like meals and recreational activities but usually don’t provide medical care.

  • Nursing home: A facility where elderly people who need medical assistance and daily care live. Nursing homes provide a higher level of care, including medical attention and help with daily activities.
