  • Do you know where the epicentres were for last week’s earthquakes?

  • I bought six two litre bottles of water. (NOT six two litres bottles)

  • Where do you store your emergency goods and supplies?

    • I store them in the small pantry in my kitchen.

    • I put my in my outdoor storage shed.

  • My new house is going to be earthquake-resistant. (NOT anti-earthquake)

  • Is the frame of your new house going to be wood or metal or concrete?

    • How safe are wood framed homes?

  • Did you display your Hina dolls this year?

  • I propped up some bags around my Hina display.

    • Do you have any Hina furniture or Hina decorations?

    • My Hina display is 5 tiers tall.

    • Did you decorate your Hina dolls this year? (= prepare and arrange for display)

  • Candy sales are slumping, but gummy candy sales are increasing.

  • Epicentre; (noun) the point on surface above the focus of an earthquake

  • Pantry; (noun) a small closet for food, goods, cookery, cutlery etc
