Lesson Notes March 21, 2023 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

  • If Zoom isn’t working for you, the best thing to do is log out and log back in again.

  • A: How are the cherry trees along the Asao river?
    B: It depends on the tree, some are almost in full bloom and others are blooming a little.

  • The forecast for tomorrow says warm and sunny, but the rest of the week will be rainy.

  • This one flower is not good to transplant. Some flowers are very hardy and can be easily transplanted.

  • On Sunday I had to a take a driver’s test to renew my driver’s license.

    • Driving skills test / practical driving test

    • Did you need to take a cognitive test? (= to evaluate a driver's ability to process information and respond to various driving situations safely)

  • Baseball; runs (= points), strike out (phrasal verb), strikeout (noun)

  • I can watch sumo (matches / bouts / tournaments) on my smartphone.

  • I hope that he will win and be promoted to Ozeki again.

    • He lost and was demoted to a lower rank.

  • I used to play golf, but I stopped when I turned 70 it wasn’t worth it anymore. (NOT the cost performance was bad)
