  • I went grocery shopping yesterday. (NOT I went to grocery shopping)

    • I went to the grocery store.

  • My sore throat was like it was (burning / on fire).

  • Do you have any idea (where / how) you caught (your cold / covid-19 / the flu)?

    • (Where / How) did you catch (your cold / covid-19 / the flu)?

  • The doctor told me to take whatever medicine (for my / to manage my) symptoms.

    • Pain killer; to prevent or reduce pain

    • Antipyretic / Fever reducer / Fever medicine; to prevent or reduce a fever (NOT fever killer)

  • Nickname (noun); a name or term used to refer to someone in a more informal or familiar manner; can take various forms, including shortening or modifying the original name, combining parts of the name, using initials, or incorporating personal attributes or interests.

  • Incubator; (noun) ( IN-kyuh-bey-ter ) a special medical device designed to provide a controlled environment for newborn babies, particularly premature infants or those with certain medical conditions.

    • When my baby was in the incubator I could go and see her, but I couldn’t hold her.

  • Epidural; (common term) an epidural anaesthetic is used during childbirth or for surgical procedures to numb a specific region of the body and provide pain relief.

  • There is a general labour shortage in the country, especially in the delivery sector; there is a shortage of drivers.
