Lesson Notes January 30, 2023 (Elementary)

  • The restaurant usually has a long line at lunch. The line sometimes goes down the staircase.

    • We had a fish carpaccio with kumquats.

  • A: Have you eaten bear meat?
    B: Yes, I have. / No, I haven’t.

    • What’s the (strangest / most exotic) food you’ve ever had?

  • At the end of the year there were plucked chickens hanging in the butcher’s window.

Vocabulary

  • Truffle ( TRUHF-uhl )

  • Kumquat; a small orange-like fruit with edible rind and pulp

  • Wild Game; wild mammals or birds

    • Bear, boar, rabbit, deer, pigeon, pheasant etc

  • Radiation

  • Atmosphere

Robots

  • Robots ( ROH-bot; it’s a long O sound )

  • The morality of robots is a concern.

  • I worry I might step on a vacuum robot and fall down.

    • I used the first generation of vacuum robot, it wasn’t reliable.

Homework

Robots - Section 2, listen to the podcast and put the jobs (a-f) in the order they are talked about. One item is extra, the podcast doesn’t talk about it.
