  • There are a lot of free areas, if you want a table with four chairs it’ll cost you ¥24,000.

  • The fireworks area is near the bridge on the river.

  • The city expects thousands of people to attend.

  • A: Can you see the fireworks from your house?
    B: No, I can’t. But I can see the Chofu ones from my balcony. (NOT yes, I can’t)

    • However, we can say “Yeah, I can’t.”, we can use the slang “yeah” in this case

    • A: Are you coming to the party tonight?
      B: (No / Yeah), I can’t come. I have to work.

  • My mother’s pond has a (water / air) circulator, but sometimes in summer the water gets too warm. We need to add water to the pond to help cool it.

    • We can use “koi” to talk about the ornamental version of carp. When we use “carp” we often mean the ones that live in rivers and lakes or are used for food.

  • My neighbour has a parrot, it is twenty-four years old, she hasn’t been able travel overseas in that time.
