Lesson Notes August 15, 2023 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

  • Murphy’s tail is really fluffy.

  • From the word “babysit” we can form similar words

    • House-sit, cat-sit, dog-sit (pet-sit)m plant-sit etc

  • During Oban I decorated my (household / home) (shrine / alter).

    • Oban is a time for remembrance and honouring ancestors.

    • A Buddhist mortuary tablet can also be called “spirit tablet” or “ancestral tablet

    • Shinto priest / Buddhist monk

  • I’m still on the way home, I pulled into a service station to avoid a traffic jam.

  • We use “great” in family relationships to show an extended familial connection, one who is not as immediate as a parent, sibling, or direct cousin

    • Great-grandparent, great-(niece / nephew), great-(uncle / aunt), great-grandchild

  • Climb; ascend (climb-up); descend (climb-down)

  • My cellphone (ring / chime) is very loud.

    • Ring; the sound from a phone call

    • Chime; the sound from an app, especially notifications from messages, emails etc
