Words & Phrases

  • We pulled out weeds from our families' graves.

  • I drove there by my instincts.

    • I don’t like to use the major highways.

  • We had a short time before our teacher’s concert, so we had some food and drinks. We were a little tipsy. (Tipsy (adj); slightly drunk)

Appropriacy

"Highway" is more commonly used for referring to highway numbers and names.

  • We should take highway 311, it’ll be faster.

  • We need to turn onto highway 466 at the next left.

Neighbourhood

Section 4

  • Quiet; (adj) can mean “little or no noise” or “place with little activity)

    • My new car has a quiet engine.

    • I was trying to be quiet while everyone was napping, but I dropped a glass.

    • The streets are quiet when it’s really hot outside.

    • I know a quiet wine stand we can go for a couple drinks.

  • When I moved here, there were children in the neighbourhood so it was a little busy.

  • In my neighbourhood, there is a small park that is safe.
