Lesson Notes August 1, 2023 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

  • A man was swept away when he slipped into the river.

  • The storm is supposed to continue until 6pm.

  • A: Did it rain last night?
    B: It didn’t rain much. There were some rain drops on the leaves, but my balcony was dry.

  • Slug; like a snail but without a shell, it can be a serious plant pest

    • Slugs often leave a trail, you can find dried white trails.

  • The house next-door is under construction. (NOT My next-door house)

  • The house and property were sold. The house was demolished, and the property was vacant. Now a house is being built.

  • Typically Japanese houses and apartments have a balcony, ground floors might have a patio. Seldom do houses have a veranda. See the differences below:

    • Balcony; A balcony is an elevated platform-like structure that protrudes from the side of a building, typically above the ground level. Balconies are common in apartments, hotels, and some houses.

    • Veranda; A veranda is a long, covered, and open-air gallery or porch that runs along the outside of a building. It is typically at ground level and can wrap around the front or sides of a house.

  • We bumped into each other at the movie theatre.

  • The end of the movie is open to interpretation.

    • Everyone seems to have a different impression of the movie.
