Be designated (verb); official be given special status
The eel meat was very tender.
For meat we use tender and tough. (NOT soft and hard)
He can choose a teacher from a picture. (NOT choice)
Choose; (verb) past tense - chose / past participle - chosen
Choice; (noun) singular - a choice / plural - choices
From my house I can see towards Yokohama. (= in the direction of)
On Komae fireworks day, the Odakyu train slowly crosses the bridge.
Lightning / Thunder; both are uncountable, so we need to use other words
There is thunder and lightning today.
Did you see a flash of lightning?
Was that a clap of thunder, it was so loud!
Large Number Words
Dozens = a large number
The kids at the party ate dozens of cookies.
Hundreds = a very large number
There were hundreds of angry customers waiting outside the shop.
Thousands = a very large number
There were thousands of people walking back to the station after the fireworks.
On Holiday
At the beach? On the beach?
At the beach; general location or in the area of the beach
My family and I spent the day at the beach, enjoying the sun and the waves.
Meet me at the beach entrance at 3pm.
On the beach; describes something happening directly on the sand
The kids built sandcastles on the beach.
There will be fireworks on the beach next weekend.
I’ll wait for you at the lifeguard station on the beach.
On a floor / In a basement
I bought this hat at a shop on the third floor.
There is a small cafe in the basement of this building.
