  • I could only hear the sound of fireworks, I couldn’t see them.

  • Does the park have any playground equipment?

    • Near my house there is a small playground where I can bring my grandkids when they visit.

  • The woman who sells me Yakult drinks runs her own franchise.

    • She runs a Yakult franchise.

Vocabulary

  • Playground; (noun) an outdoor area for children to play in

  • Takeout (noun) (synonym; takeaway) food cooked at a restaurant to be eaten elsewhere

  • Delivery; (noun) food cooked at a restaurant and delivered to your home

  • Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!

Various adjectives can be used to describe the different stages or levels of severity for illnesses and diseases.

  • Mild:

    • Early-stage

    • Initial

    • Mild cognitive impairment (only used for diseases like Alzheimers, mental conditions)

  • Moderate:

    • Progressive

    • Intermediate

    • Moderate cognitive decline (only used for diseases like Alzheimers, mental conditions)

  • Severe:

    • Advanced

    • Late-stage

    • Severe cognitive impairment (only used for diseases like Alzheimers, mental conditions)
