Words & Phrases

  • I went to the Shinyurigaoka General Hospital this morning.

    • I went there to sign the consent (documents / forms) for an upcoming procedure.

    • What (kind of) procedure will you have?

    • I’ll have an endoscopy later this month. (= a procedure with an endoscope)

    • The doctor used an endoscope to examine inside my stomach. (= an instrument to  examine the internal body)

  • Just as I wanted to (open / start) Zoom my old friend called me, and we chatted for a short while.

  • I have a pain in my leg above my knee.

  • Every morning, even in summer, I (weed / pick weeds in) the garden for 10 minutes.

    • When you’re gardening in the morning what is the temperature?

  • This summer I used a weed-killer that is not harmful to animals or people.

    • We use a similar spray on our parents’ graves.

  • Earthworms are good for your garden, they help aerate your soil.

  • Caterpillars become butterflies or moths.

  • A larva is the stage of an insect after it develops from an egg, but before it changes into its adult form.
