Words & Phrases

  • It was a comfortable trail. There were a few ups and downs, but it wasn’t hard.

  • Near the station there were a lot of standing cafes and restaurants.

    • We wanted to find a sit-down restaurant.

  • Junko and Noriko (bumped / ran) into each other at Shinyurigaoka.

  • Outpatient; a patient who gets treated at a hospital, like in an emergency room or clinic

  • Inpatient; a patient who stays in a hospital to receive care or treatment

  • Komada Coffee shops are usually not in shopping centres.

  • Some of the shopping spaces outside the station are vacant.

  • The supermarkets displays are really nice, and it’s easy to shop.

    • Their premade foods and meals are also delicious.

    • I bought a prepackaged hotpot set for dinner.

  • Local; means a place mainly used by people who live nearby. It’s not busy with tourists or visitors from far away

    • Some of the better bakeries are the local ones.

    • Kakio station is a bit local, if you don’t live there, there isn’t much reason to visit.

  • I live in a two-bedroom condo. (“Two-bedroom” is an adjective, so there is no plural)

    • This condo has two bedrooms.

  • If you buy apples directly from the orchard, they are much fresher than at the supermarket.
