Topic: Eat the Rainbow
Lesson Notes October 24, 2023 (Elementary)
I changed my wardrobe from summer to winter.
This morning I was designing my shop business card on my computer.
We played a half round of golf. It (become / got) dark and I couldn’t see my ball. I lost two balls.
It was the first time he came home in three weeks.
My son's friend told him about the XIV hotel and gave him a complimentary stay.
The atmosphere of the hotel was great.
I used to go to the Tama River fireworks when I was a child.
We covered ourselves with the picnic sheet. Everyone did the same.
When the fireworks started everyone was fine. After 30 minutes the rain stopped. (NOT the rain was stopped)
Vocabulary
Wardrobe; (noun) a person’s entire collection of clothes
Lost; (irregular verb) (past and past participle) lost
Atmosphere; (noun) the mood or feeling of a place, situation, or art
Eat the Rainbow
Lettuce is uncountable, so we ask “How much lettuce did Samantha eat?”
When we use a container (for example “a bowl of …”), the containers are countable, so we can ask “How many bowls of lettuce did Samantha eat?”
Section 5 Sample Answer: “Paul: 1 small aubergine.”
Question: “How many aubergines did Paul eat?”
Answer: “Paul didn’t eat many aubergines.” (NOT Paul ate 1 small aubergine)
When the amount is small, less than 3, we can use “not many”
