Words & Phrases

  • I have an old kettle that I tried to polish clean.

    • Is it stainless steel?

  • There are cracks in the walls, and a leak from the upstairs bathroom to the kitchen downstairs. We’d have to tear out the ceiling to find the leak.

    • The bathroom is (directly) above the kitchen.

  • Do you have a modular bathroom?

  • Does your home have many gadgets?

    • My gas stove has a timer and temperature gadget built into it.

    • My kitchen fan is self-cleaning.

      • How does it clean itself?

  • I didn’t check the instructions, I find reading instructions is boring.

  • The outdoor light has an automatic sensor that turns the light on when it gets dark.

    • The switch for the light is in the staircase-cupboard.

  • There’s a small appliance shop near my house with a very kind owner who is quick to help me.

  • That company used to only make commercial and industrial air conditioners, nowadays they also make residential ones.

  • The paper screen was ripped, probably by their cat.
