Words & Phrases

  • The temperature is higher this week than last week, but I feel chilly. Maybe it's the dampness in the air.

  • The design company handed over tow thick binders of materials when we moved into our house.

    • Every five weeks I have to go to our property to take care of the community garbage.

  • For dinner tonight, I stewed some vegetables and meat. (= verb)

    • We ate stewed vegetables for dinner. (= adjective)

  • I tell my work my availability, and they choose my working days.

Appropriate Language

  • The term "day care" is more commonly used for children or general daily care, and "day service" is more likely to refer to specialized programs or care for adults or people with specific needs.

  • As a noun, a stew, is a meal made by cooking meat and vegetables in liquid eat a low temperature.

  • As a verb, when we stew meat, vegetables or fruit, you cook them slowly in liquid in a covered pot

  • Bill (verb) To ask for payment for something, like services or goods

  • Web developer (noun) A person who creates and maintains websites.

  • Temp agency (noun) A company that helps people find temporary jobs

    • An agency worker might also be called temp staff.
