Words & Phrases
The underground shopping arcade below Sapporo station is really convenient.
My trip was packed. (= My trip was busy with activities)
Construction has halted after water and bubbles appeared from the ground in a residential garden near a tunnel digging site in western Tokyo.
The company is doing large-scale construction.
There is a convenience store near the station.
My family bought a house near my house.
I sat near my friend at the concert.
I’ve heard a rumour that the Nambu line trains will become (driverless / autonomous).
The train floors used to be (oiled / waxed). (NOT there was oil on the floors)
Grammar
In English, "near" does not require the preposition “from" when describing proximity.
"Near to" is technically correct, but it's more formal and less commonly used in everyday speech.
Appropriate Language
“Shopping arcade" typically refers to a collection of shops within a covered area
"Packed" about a place means it is very crowded or full of people, like a packed train or a packed concert.
"Packed with" things means something contains a lot of things, like "a suitcase packed with clothes" or "a trip packed with activities.”
