  • A: Yesterday was really hot, wasn’t it?
B: It was. Today is cooler, thankfully.

    • B can use the comparative adjective “cooler” about the weather because A mentioned the weather yesterday.

  • A: Hey. How are you today?
B: Hey. I’m hungrier. How about you? (This sentence is incomplete or incorrect; there is no reason in his exchange to use a comparative adjective; A did not talk about being hungry). A better sentence would be “Hey. I’m hungry. How about you?”

  • The rainy season is coming, so hydrangeas are starting to bloom and flower.
