Lesson Notes June 16, 2023 (Elementary)

  • Muggy; (of the weather) unpleasantly warm and humid

    • Today was a really hot and humid, when I went to bed my bedroom was muggy.

  • My air conditioner is broken, now the repairman is fixing it.

    • The repair company is busy, I was waiting five days.

  • Warranty

    • The warranty period is five years.

    • My AC is still under warranty.

  • Pure-bred; (of an animal) an unmixed decent

    • I want to breed my killifish.

  • Hybrid; the offspring of two plants or animals of different species or varieties

    • This killifish is a hybrid of these two kinds to make a red variety of killifish.

  • I want to give my killifish to people who want them.

    • When do killifish (become adults / lay eggs)?

  • Do you believe in (ghosts / monsters / aliens etc)?

    • She had difficulty breathing and her hands were shaking. (NOT felt difficult breathes)

  • I’m my uncle’s nearest relation.

Weekends

  • Zippers break and buttons fall off.

Homework; Weekends, section 5, write eight sentences using the past simple form of the verbs.
