- I went to the dentist this morning, since it opens at 9 o’clock.

- Herb; has slightly different pronunciations 
- North American, the “h” is silent: ( ɝːb ) 
- British: ( hɜːb ) 
Appropriacy
For businesses, shops and offices, we use open and close typically not start. We use start for personal schedules or class times.
- The dentist office opens early in the morning. 
- The supermarket closes at 10pm. 
- My office building opens at 6am, but I start work at 8am. 
- The elementary school isn’t open on weekends. 
- In elementary school, kids start class at 9am. 
Note the difference between Fry (a young fish) and Baby
- I saw some koi fry in my pond. 
- I saw some baby koi in my pond.
