Appropriacy
For businesses, shops and offices, we use open and close typically not start. We use start for personal schedules or class times.
The dentist office opens early in the morning.
The supermarket closes at 10pm.
My office building opens at 6am, but I start work at 8am.
The elementary school isn’t open on weekends.
In elementary school, kids start class at 9am.
