Words & Phrases

  • Something that is grimy is very dirty.

    • The pool is grimy after an afternoon of elementary school kids using it.

    • Your hands are grimy from working in the garden, wash them outside.

  • I think both baseball teams are balanced.

Cooking & Eating

  • The recipe calls for one cob of corn. (Corncob)

    • This device is handy, it helps to remove the kernels of corn.

    • Can you remove the corn husk and wash off the cornsilk for me, please?

  • Then you crumble the tofu. (NOT crush)

Section 2

  • 190°C; one hundred ninety degrees Celsius

  • 250g spaghetti; two hundred and fifty grams of spaghetti

  • 1.5 cans of chopped tomatoes; one and a half cans

Homework

Write down your favourite recipe, don’t forget to include the name, ingredients and simple instructions (see the recipes in Section 2). You may also use a cookbook and translate a recipe from Japanese into English.
