Lesson Notes January 31, 2023 (Elementary)

  • Do you use disinfectant spray on your bonsai? (NOT medicine spray)

  • I wrapped my outdoor water pipe in bubblewrap.

  • I misheard the pronunciation of cancer and cancel.

  • Stall; (noun) a stand, booth for the sale of goods in a market

    • There were stalls for food, drinks and small goods.

  • How to say dates

    • March 3rd and 4th. (Two dates)

    • March 3rd to 7th. (Consecutive dates)

    • March 3rd, 4th, and 6th. (A range of dates)

Business People

Verbs ending in a consonant + -y we change to -ied

  • Marry - married / hurry - hurried / study - studied / apply - applied / try - tried

Verbs ending in a vowel + -y we do not change

  • play - played / enjoy - enjoyed / 

Sometimes a word ends in vowel + consonant, so we double the consonant at the end

  • stop - stopped / plan - planned / rub - rubbed / thin - thinned
