Words & Phrases

  • I’m taking time off from working at the pharmacy.

  • The allergy forecast this season will have more pollen than usual.

  • Did you know about the Odakyu line’s trouble last Thursday?

    • On Sunday at Shinyurigaoka, someone fell off the platform.

  • I needed to use this gift certificate before January 31st. (NOT until)

  • We need to get used to train accidents when living in Tokyo.

Appropriate Language

  • “Take time off” means you are temporarily not working; can be used for a vacation, a break, medical reasons etc

  • “To get use to” means to be accustomed, or familiar with someone

Weekends

Section 1

  • 2 On Saturdays, I (cook / make) a nicer breakfast than the weekdays.

  • 3 On Sundays, I have ballet or yoga (classes).

  • 4 My favourite thing to do on the weekend is (going) driving to the mountains.
