• Today at my singing class, we did a lot of vocal exercises.

• Do you sing songs together?

• Is the singing class fun?

• If I sang well, it is interesting. (= simple past tense)

• If I’ve sung well, it is interesting. (= present perfect tense)

• I had a health check today.

• In my left ear, high pitch sounds are becoming difficult to hear.

• My husband’s company prepares health checks for retired workers and their spouses.

• (Same meaning, just different structure) “The company my husband worked for arranges health check-ups for retired employees and their spouses.”

• Next month I need to get a (gastroscopy / colonoscopy).

• My friend is the Head HR Manager in his company.

• In the company I worked at for a year and a bit, you couldn’t (work / do) any overtime.

• I taught music in elementary school, and I had a license to teach in junior high school.

• How long had you been teaching at the school?

• I conducted students’ concerts.

• Maybe you are getting better at singing. (NOT getting well)

• We use the adjective “well” to mean “in good health” or “recovered from illness

• “I don’t feel very well, my stomach is upset.” (= I am not in good health …)

• Are you feeling better? I heard you had a bad cold. (= Have you recovered from the bad cold?)
