Lesson Notes February 6, 2023 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

  • The snow was really heavy, and this morning it was really wet and slushy.

  • Did you hear the thunder and lightning last night?

    • It was surprising to have thunder and lightning during a snow storm.

    • The thunder wasn’t very loud but the lightning was very bright I thought.

  • The staff salted the walkway to melt the snow and ice.

    • After shovelling the snow I have lower back pain.

  • The weather forecast says it will be cloudy in the morning turning to sunshine in the afternoon.

  • The principal stole coffee from a convenience store. Those coffee machines work on the honour system.

  • I feel bad for his family, people might talk about them behind their backs.

    • I don’t want to be talked about behind my back.

  • What companies are in Kurokawa?

    • What companies will be in the new building near Kurokawa station?

Vocabulary

  • Slushy; (adj) like melted snow or ice

  • Salt; (verb) sprinkle (a road or path) with salt in order to melt snow or ice

  • Shovel; (verb) move (coal, earth, snow, or a similar substance) with a shovel

  • Honour system; (noun) a system where the user is trusted to do something, without someone watching over them
