Topic: People’s Appearance

Lesson Notes February 20, 2024 (Vocabulary Building)

  • The forest was cleared to build a residential neighbourhood. (NOT cleaned)

  • The owner donated a small piece of land to the city. (NOT a small yard)

  • The developers built a new residential area, but they left (one / an) area for trees and flowers.

  • There is no road around the entire island. The west side has no roads.

Note the Differences

  • Did you enjoy eating? (= focuses on the action of eating itself)

  • Did you enjoy the food? (= asks about the food that was consumed)

Vocabulary

  • Clear; (verb) free (land) for cultivation or building by removing vegetation or existing

People’s Appearance

Section 3

  • Dark hair / (fair / light) hair

  • Frail / Wiry / Flabby; (of a person’s body)

  • The lady wearing the green sweater has narrow shoulders.

  • The man wearing the orange shirt has a muscular build.

  • The women on the bottom left has shoulder length dark hair.

  • The man on the right has bushy eyebrows.

  • The man in the centre has a double chin.
