Lesson Notes February 14, 2023 (TUESDAY ZOOM)

  • Do you think there is much pollen in the air?

  • Who suffers from hay fever?

  • It snowed (heavily / deeply). (NOT it snowed deep)

  • Deep (adverb); far down or in

    • We walked deep into the forest.

  • Whiteout; (noun) a dense blizzard, especially when snow is blowing making it difficult to see

    • I saw on the news a popular ski resort had a whiteout, it was almost impossible to see anything.

  • “He is called a racoon dog uncle” may not make sense depending on the context. It would be better to say “He is likened to a racoon dog.”

  • Cruel ( kroo-uhl )

    • Words which rhyme (have similar pronunciations); duel, fuel, school, rule, pool

  • Unspeakable; (adjective) too bad or horrific to express in words

    • Both of those situations are unspeakable.

  • Proof; (adjective) able to withstand something damaging, resistant (in combinations)

    • (Earthquake / heat / water / child / idiot) proof
