Business People

Simple past questions begin with “did” (Section 8)

  • Q: Did she train as a nurse?
    A: No, she didn’t. She trained as a teacher.

Sometimes we have to use question words to find out information; who, what, when, where, why

  • Q: What did she train as?
    A: She trained as a nurse.

  • Q: Who did she marry?
    A: She married Gordon Roddick.

  • Q: When did they marry?
    A: They married in 1970.

  • Q: When did they open a sauna?
    A: They didn’t open a sauna. They opened a restaurant and a hotel.

  • Q: What charity did she found?
    A: She founded a charity called Children on the Edge.
