Words & Phrases

  • My husband has a varicose vein in his left leg.

    • We were worried about him getting a thrombosis on the flight.

    • He needed to see a vascular specialist and get an MRI.

    • My brother’s doctor recommended him to wear (compression socks / anti-thrombosis socks).

  • At immigration at Honolulu, five windows were open.

    • When I went through immigration (in Vancouver / at Vancouver airport), you answered questions on a screen.

  • Most modern weddings the Man of Honour and the Maid of Honour act as legal witnesses and sign the marriage certificate. They also support the bride and groom during the wedding process.

    • We all wore (matching / similar) outfits to the wedding that our daughter-in-law picked out.

  • One large bunch of bananas costs $1.99. (= one dollar and ninety-nine cents)
