Lesson Notes August 29, 2023 (Vocabulary Building)

  • A: Do you have a solar panel system?
    B: Yes, we do.
    A: Do you use the generated power yourself?
    B: No, we sell it (back) to the power company.

  • I sometimes wake up shivering when the room is too cold.

  • We had the famous dessert, it’s gold-leaf on ice cream.

    • Soft (ice) cream is also called “soft serve” in most of North America.

In the Countryside

  • The tractor is plowing the field.

  • A silo is typically used for storing grain.

  • I can see some fields, I think they might be wheat.

Autumn

  • I see some autumn leaves, they are yellow, orange and red.

  • I like the autumn weather, day by day it’s getting cooler.

  • In autumn, I like the colour of the evening glow.

  • Wellington boots; (rain / rubber) boots

  • Fragrant olive (キンモクセイ)

  • What objects do you imagine when you hear “autumn”?
