  • There was a train accident early today near Tsurukawa station.

    • There was a train accident that caused an injury.

    • Someone was injured in a train accident.

    • There was a fatal train accident.

    • Someone was killed in a train accident.

  • Long time no see; (informal) (used only as a greeting) it is a long time since we last met

    • A: Long time no see! How have you been?
      B: I’ve been good, how about you?

  • In other cases we use the present perfect tense to talk about an action or event that started in the past and has continued up to the present.

    • This can include actions that have not been done for a long time

      • I haven't eaten sushi in years.

      • She hasn't visited her hometown since she moved away.

      • They haven't seen each other since high school.

      • It’s been a long time since some of my family because of covid-19. (NOT I haven’t long time no see my family

  • Some convenience stores accept multiple forms of payment, like cash, credit card and QR code; some stores only accept Japanese credit cards. In most of the stores the staff don’t handle your payments, you have to use a self-service machine to pay. These self-service machines accept various types of payments.
