  • He fell down and hit his face near his right eye, he was helped back home by a neighbour. (NOT he helped back home)

    • He was bleeding. (NOT he was bleeding blood)

  • Go drinking / Go for drinks

    • Last week I went drinking two or three times to different places.

    • Are we going for drinks after work?

  • Her daughter is in a Japanese high school temporarily.

    • Her daughter is in a Japanese high school for a short time.

  • The festival was (on live / live on) TV for four days.

Crazy Hotels

  • Ice; uncountable noun

  • Ice cubes; countable noun

    • The glasses are made of ice. (= uncountable noun)

    • Can you get some (ice / ice cubes) from the machine down the hall? (= uncountable noun / countable noun)

    • There is only two ice cubes in my drink, can I have a couple more please? (= countable noun)

  • Ew / Eww; (informal) used to express disgust or dislike

    • A: Do you want to go out for beef tongue tonight?
      B: Ew, no thank you.

    • Eeew there is something floating in my soup. I think it’s a dead fly!
