Lesson Notes April 23, 2024 (Elementary)

  • Yesterday, I went to the ear, nose and throat clinic.

    • My surfboard hit my throat, I had a hoarse voice.

    • I can stand on the board sometimes, but mostly I fall off.

  • There is a short time between events, it’s hard to remember new dance routines.

  • My teacher sent me many Line messages. (NOT Lines)

  • He will scatter a little of his grandfather’s ashes in his favourite places.

  • With one ticket you can re-enter the events.

    • All tickets are re-entry tickets.

  • I felt sick to my stomach, and left the movie in the middle.

  • Do you have a special watering can for your bonsai?

    • I was given a special watering hose attachment.

Vocabulary

  • Ear, Nose and Throat (clinic / doctor)

    • We can sometimes use the short form “ENT”

    • The medical word is “otolaryngologist”

  • Hoarse; (of a voice) rough and harsh, especially because of an illness

  • Sitcom; a situational comedy; a type of TV

  • Watering can; a can that is used to water plants
