3. Handle
Meaning: To manage or deal with something, especially something difficult.
Synonyms: Manage, cope with, deal with
“She knows how to handle difficult customers.”
Appropriate Language
Nursing home – A place where elderly people live and receive medical care.
Retirement home – A residence for older adults who are mostly independent but want to live in a community.
Assisted living facility – For seniors who need help with daily activities (like dressing or bathing), but not full-time medical care.
Senior home – A general, casual term for housing for elderly people.
Elder care facility – More formal, often used in official or health care contexts.
Informal/Casual:
Old folks’ home – Very informal, can sound a bit dated or insensitive depending on the tone.
Home for the elderly – A clear and respectful option.
