Words & Phrases
About a month ago I twisted my ankle.
Have you recovered enough to start dancing again?
Do you (do / practice) hula in front of the mirror?
Sometimes, you see men practicing their golf or baseball swing in public. Do you practice hula in public?
I am going to watch a live stream of the (hula event / baseball game / graduation ceremony).
Typically outdoor house spaces
Porch (noun); A small area at the front or back door of a house, usually covered, sometimes with space to sit
Veranda (noun); A roofed, open-air porch attached to the outside of a house, often along the front or side
Lanai (noun); A covered outdoor area or porch, usually attached to a house, especially common in Hawaii
Appropriate Language
Both “quick” and “fast” describe speed, but they are used slightly differently in English
Quick refers to something that happens or is done in a short amount of time. It is often used to describe actions or tasks.
“The next song is quick” means that the song will be short in length, or it will be over quickly.
Fast describes speed in terms of how fast something moves or goes. It is often used to describe the speed of objects or actions.
“The next song is fast” means the song has a quick tempo, or the music is played quickly.
Health & Illness

Fit (adj); Healthy and strong, often from exercise
She is strong and fit for her age.
Get ill (verb phrase); To become sick or unhealthy
She often gets ill in the winter.
Lightheaded (adj); Feeling weak, dizzy, or like you might faint
I felt lightheaded after standing up too quickly.
The chills (noun, plural); A feeling of coldness often with shivering, usually because of illness or fever
He had a fever and the chills all night.
Fatigue (noun); A strong feeling of tiredness or lack of energy.
He couldn’t focus because of mental fatigue.
Medications (noun); Substances or drugs used to treat or prevent illnesses or conditions.
The doctor prescribed several medications to treat the infection.
Allergist (noun) A doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating allergies
After visiting the allergist, I started taking medication for my pollen allergies.
