Lesson Notes September 12, 2023 (Vocabulary Building)

  • Compression socks; (noun) (used when flying) help to increase circulation, thus preventing swelling in your lower legs and feet

  • Bounce back; (verb) recover well after a setback or problem

    • I pulled a muscle Friday, but I bounced back by Saturday.

  • Did you stop your air conditioner? I can see your curtain blowing.

  • Face; (verb) positioned in a particular direction

    • My room faces east, so in the evenings it’s cooler.

    • My bedroom faces southwest, it’s getting cooler but it’s still too hot to sleep.

  • I went to the dentist for a check-up and a cleaning.

  • My building is testing the fire alarms, and emergency systems.

    • Next week, they will be testing the drains in the kitchen and the bathroom.

    • After the fire alarm test, that evening there was a false alarm.

  • The bottom of the pad is anti-slip.

  • There’s a little bit of a smell in autumn, likes flowers.
