Topic: Eat the Rainbow

Lesson Notes October 3, 2023 (Elementary)

  • What did everyone do on the weekend? Go anywhere? Do anything? Cook a good meal? Read a good book?

  • My niece will become a paramedic in ambulance.

    • She’s about 165cm tall and muscular.

    • I can’t imagine her at the scene of a fire.

  • The concert was streamed to movie theatres around Japan.

    • You could watch the concert live at movie theatres.

  • I gently cleaned the paste off.

Eat the Rainbow

Countable

  • Singular and plural forms

  • We see them as separate items

  • Examples: grape / grapes, sweet potato / sweet potatoes, orange / oranges, apple / apples, Brussels sprout / Brussels sprouts

Uncountable

  • Have one form (typically we do not add -s)

  • We can’t count the item separately. It’s a whole or mass

  • Examples: lettuce / broccoli / cauliflower / cabbage / bean sprouts

Vocabulary

  • Forgive and forget; meaning “It's okay, and I won't be upset anymore.”

  • Gossip; (noun) similar to “rumour”

  • Paramedic; (noun) a person trained in emergency medical care

  • Paste; (noun) a sticky substance like glue
