Topic: The Senses

Lesson Notes June 13, 2023 (Vocabulary Building)

  • We practiced steps one through three over and over.

    • I couldn’t do one of the hand motions properly.

    • But I had fun. (NOT I was fun)

    • I think the teacher is in her fifties.

    • She started doing hula after her children grew up.

  • I had a vaccination yesterday and a high fever. This morning I was feeling better, so I went out to do some shopping.

    • Which vaccine did you get?

    • What side effects did you have after the booster shots?

  • I caught a slight cold, I have a cough and a runny nose. (NOT a running nose)

  • I’ve been watching some volleyball tournaments.

    • Girls' volleyball team": a team composed of female players who are in their teenage years or below.

    • "Women's volleyball team": a team composed of adult female players.

    • Follow the same pattern for boys’ and men teams, groups etc

  • I went to the movie theatre and watched a documentary. (NOT watch a document)

    • There were some vacant seats, but most of them were full.

    • I ordered some WBC goods, they haven’t arrived yet, they are on backorder. (= they are temporarily out of stock)

    • The "tournament schedule" or "game schedule” outlines the matchup of teams that will play each other in the tournament.

  • Section 2

    • 1. The man is tasting some cheese.

    • 2.  The woman is smelling a red flower.

    • 3. You can’t see the bridge.

    • 4. The man is touching his phone.

    • 5. The man (is hearing / hears) some noise outside.
