Topic: On Holiday

Lesson Notes July 25, 2023 (Elementary)

  • “The school I graduated from”, we can use “my + school” (my (elementary school / junior high school / high school / university …)

    • The place I use often

      • My bank

      • My doctor

      • My supermarket

  • 4D Movie; a 3D film or regular film featuring additional effects such as smells, movement, and simulated weather

  • You’re really good at changing your mood. (NOT changing your mind)

  • They moved a little far away. It will be (hard / difficult / tricky) to visit them.

  • The driving range opens at 8am. We (spent / killed) time until it opened.

    • A: Do you go to a golf course often?
      B: I usually don’t go golfing.

  • There were about 10 shops at the venue. (We use “at” for specific locations)

On Holiday

  • Using at, in and on for places

    • At; a position at a point

    • On; a position on a line, & a position on a surface

    • In; when something is surrounded

  • Sometimes there are fixed phrases, these you have to memorize

    • At (work / school / home / university)

    • In (a picture / the sky / bed / hospital)

    • On (a page / my computer)

Homework: Section 3 - think of 3 to 5 examples of how we can use “at”, “in” and “on” in your house. Use simple sentences, for example

  • “There is a plant on my desk.”

  • “There is ice in my glass.”
