  • Contractor; a person or firm that undertakes a contract to provide materials or labour to perform a service or do a job

    • She has a meeting with a contractor about their house renovations.

    • Last weekend the contractor came and installed a new doorbell system.

  • Her husband is good with his hands, he used to make furniture.

  • Compare physiotherapy and rehabilitation

    • Physiotherapy; treatment of injuries using massage, heat treatment and exercise. Short form physio

    • My father is in physio after breaking his hip.

    • Rehabilitation; restoring someone to health through training and therapy after imprisonment, addiction, or illness

    • She underwent rehabilitation and was walking within three weeks.

  • Perishables; (especially of food) likely to decay or go bad quickly

At Home

  • Chore; (noun) a routine task, especially a household one

    • (Verb) do a chore / do chores

  • I ironed my shirt.

    • I did the ironing for everyone in the house.

  • Sweep (the stairs / the balcony / the driveway)

  • I vacuum the floors every morning.

    • I do the vacuuming every couple of days.

    • I vacuumed the carpets this morning.

  • Chores

    • Fold the laundry

    • Take out the (garbage / recycling)

    • Clean the (bathroom / toilet / shower / sink)

    • Polish the shoes

      • Do the polishing (= polish silverware)

    • Water the plants

    • Walk the dog

      • Take the dog for a walk

    • Feed the pets

  • I don’t like doing the ironing, it’s a hassle.
