    • I lived in Shibuya until I was married, then I moved to Kanagawa.

    • My family visits Meiji shrine every New Year’s. (= the time around New Year’s)

  • The area is flat and easy to develop. Asao, on the other hand, is hilly.

    • The streets were planned well. They are wide and straight. Unlike here, where the streets are winding.

Vocabulary

  • Couple; (noun) two people in a romantic relationship

  • Spouse; (noun) describes a married man or woman

  • Handrail; (noun) a rail fixed to posts or a wall for people to hold on to for support

  • Handhold; (noun) a suspended handle to hold on to for support. Also called “hanging strap”, “grab handle” etc)

  • Puddle; (noun) a small pool of liquid, especially of rainwater on the ground

    • Don’t confuse with “paddle”

  • Single rail; (noun) a single track or line of rails on which a train or other rail vehicles travel

  • Hilly; (adj) having many hills
