Topic: On the Calendar

Lesson Notes December 19, 2023 (Elementary)

  • We are so busy with practices, and the locations are far. (NOT practice)

    • Once a week we come back home after ten o’clock. (NOT over ten o’clock)

  • A: How many teams are in the tournament?
    B: There are about 10 teams. It’s a big competition.

  • Nobody switched on my kettle, but the water boiled.

  • I don’t decorate a Christmas tree. I only hang a wreath.

  • In front of the botanical picture there were some climbers on a table.

  • Where can we buy the materials to make a wreath?

  • I knitted a cellphone case for myself.

Vocabulary

  • Tournament; competition; used for sports events with some teams

  • Climbers; vines

  • Pine cone; the woody fruit of a pine tree that holds seeds

On the Calendar

Section 3

  • We use a rising intonation for yes/no questions and a falling intonation for question-word questions.

  • “Gonna” is not a real word, we can use it in informal conversations but we shouldn’t use it in formal or in writing.

Section 4 - prepare questions and answers; using full sentences and contractions
